Terry Peak has four Chairlifts of which three are high speed quads, and one is a triple chairlift, in addition to the four lifts Terry Peak has one covered Snow Carpet surface lift on the beginners slope.  The Stewart Lodge and the Nevada Gulch Lodge offer comforts of home, each houses a cafeteria and bar.  The Rental Department in the Stewart Lodge offers ski and snowboard gear rentals for 1,000’s of guests daily, and the Mountain Shop is stocked full of all the necessities to help make you day on the slopes more enjoyable.

A Little History

Beginning in 1936 The Bald Mountain Ski Club used a rope tow on Stewart Slope to offer adventure seekers a ride to the top to experience the mountain as a recreational ski hillI.  Soon after, the fun ended with start of World War II.  Several of the locals that were involved with the Bald Mountain Ski Club were drafted and assigned into the 10th Mountain Division.

In1952 Black Hills Chairlift Company was formed and the first wooden chairlift was installed.  The first two years Black Hills Chairlift, Inc. d.b.a. Terry Peak Ski Area operated as a Summer Chairlift ride only.  It was the Winter of 1954 that Terry Peak operated as a ski area for the very first time.
