This Thursday morning, July 12, beginning at approximately 6:00 AM a large helicopter is scheduled to fly the new “Goldcorp Express” Chairlift towers onto their new locations. The helicopter will be lifting each of the 13 towers from the Stewart Lodge parking lot and delivering them to the new concrete pads that were formed just a few weeks ago. This activity will be taking place early in the morning in order to utilize the calmest time of the day.
For safety reasons, ABSOLUTELY NO foot traffic will be allowed on the mountain. Spectators and media will have the best vantage point by taking the Terry Summit Road to the parking lot at the top of the mountain, or from the Stewart Lodge parking lot near the new Ski School building.
The new high-speed detachable Doppelmayr Quad Chairlift, which will bear the name “Goldcorp Express” is scheduled to be completed and load tested by mid-September, and ready for the upcoming 2012-2013 ski season.
