Elevations ranging from 5,900 feet to over 7,000 feet.

With a summit at 7,100 feet, Terry Peak in South Dakota offers the highest lift service between the Rocky Mountains and the Alps. Reaching this elevation means the mountain can get up to three times as much snow as anywhere else in the region. A vertical rise of 1,100 feet with 29 trails and one Terrain Park, provides plenty of non-stop action and unlimited adventure.  In the event of a lean Winter, Terry Peak has snowmaking equipment that can blanket approximately 60% of the mountain with man-made powder, ensuring the conditions are great all season long. With a fleet of Piston Bully grooms, Terry Peak’s skilled operators will groom the slopes to perfection while you sleep. Awake to freshly groomed slopes on all beginner and most intermediate and advanced runs.

A LITTLE HISTORY

Beginning in 1936 The Bald Mountain Ski Club used a rope tow on Stewart Slope to offer adventure seekers a ride to the top to experience the mountain as a recreational ski hillI.  Soon after, the fun ended with start of World War II.  Several of the locals that were involved with the Bald Mountain Ski Club were drafted and assigned into the 10th Mountain Division.

In 1952 Black Hills Chairlift Company was formed and the first wooden chairlift was installed.  The first two years Black Hills Chairlift, Inc. d.b.a. Terry Peak Ski Area operated as a Summer Chairlift ride only.  It was the Winter of 1954 that Terry Peak operated as a ski area for the very first time.
